Tucked in the middle of Northern Wisconsin’s Chequamegon National Forest is a little slice of the Northwood’s called Clam Lake. The majestic pines and flowing waters create a wonderful escape from the toils of everyday life. We invite you to come and getaway for awhile!
Clam Lake, Wisconsin’s central location in the Heart of the Chequamegon National Forest makes it well-situated for year round enjoyment of all the Forest has to offer.Fish the many lakes and streams in the Area, golf some of the most scenic golf courses, ski some of Wisconsin’s finest cross country ski trails, mountain bike the miles of off road track, snowmobile right from your front door onto well-groomed routes or unwind while patiently waiting for a glimpse of a browsing elk. There is as much for you to do or as little.
The Elk Capital of Wisconsin - In 1995, 25 elk were experimentally reintroduced into the Chequamegon National Forest near Clam Lake. They were monitored by a research team from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point until 1999. Once the research was completed, the field responsibility for management of the elk herd was transferred to the Department of Natural Resources. Today, the herd is estimated to have reached around 120 animals and growing. Much of the original herd remains within a relatively well-defined range in the vicinity of Clam Lake and can often be seen from Area roadways.
We look forward to welcoming you for a wonderful
stay in Wisconsin’s Northwoods!
