Clam Lake News & Events

Hello Clam Lake!

Happy Labor Day everyone!

ST. GEORGE CHAPEL – This Saturday, the 31st at 6:00 pm, the last Mass for the 2024 season will be celebrated at St. George, our historic “Chapel in the Pines”. One more chance to take a step back in time to a simpler era in our log cabin chapel made from the forest that surrounds it. Until next year…..

COMMUNITY CLUB MEETING – The Clam Lake Community Club will resume its “regularly scheduled programming” by having a meeting on Thursday September 12th – the second Thursday of the month. Elections for officers have been traditionally held in September. With the positions of President and Treasurer becoming available we are asking others to step up and take on this service for our community. If interested, or know of people that may be, please attend the September meeting or contact one of the Community Club officers. Thank you! (Side note – must be a member in good standing to be an officer or vote.)

BOOK CLUB – The next meeting of the Clam Lake Book Club will be held on Tuesday September 10th at Ransoms Place running from 4:30 to 5:30. The book being discussed will be “Between Earth and Sky” by Amanda Skenandore. As always, we invite all to come share in some “lively discussion, camaraderie, tasty food and inspiring libation”. Food and drink will be made available for purchase before, during and after the meeting.

FLIPPER FEST 2024 – On Saturday September 1st the Elkhorn Lodge will be holding their first annual “Flipper Fest”. This event is being held in memory of Karen Johnson (nicknamed Flipper) whom passed away in 2023. The day will feature a Bean Bag contest, free pizza from noon until 2:00, a bear roast along with $2.00 Busch Lights all day! The day will round out with live music from 6:00 to 9:00 featuring Keith Christopherson Jr. Sounds like a good time!!!

DAY LAKE NEWS – MEET THE CAMP HOST – This year’s host for the Day Lake Campground is Stanton Schmidt from Two Rivers. Although the summer season is almost over, Stanton will be here through September when camping continues to be high. Stanton is retired from a job as a computer programmer in Green Bay and decided to give camp hosting a whirl as a way to travel about and experience different areas. He also loves to camp and fish so, is a perfect fit. He came to Day Lake from a campground in Missouri and will be going to another in Oklahoma following his time spent in Clam Lake. We welcome him and thank him for his service to our forest! Thank you!
