Good Sunday Evening Readers..
Well it got a little chilly out there out last night, at one point my thermometer was at 34 degrees..needless to say it turned out to be a beautiful day, sunny, slightly warm, nice breeze,,like I said a beautiful day..
If you missed the last community dinner, you really missed out on a lot of good food and some great conversation and a fantastic meeting..The meeting was called to order and the secretary’s report was given by Lynne Rice. The treasures report was given by Julie Rubeck. Old business was discussed and there were no Outreach cards sent out last month..
The 4th of July Fireworks will be held on Saturday, July 7th at dusk..beforehand and during..there will be sloppie joes, refreshments and popcorn..
So, write that date down to plan your 4th celebration in Clam Lake..
For awhile now at every meeting Lynne Rice has been giving the group a”History Lesson” about Clam Lake. This month it was about “Trygg Maps” and Arrowheads, Indian Sugar Camps/ Ashland and Sawyer County Line Sugar Camps.. This time Lynne brought maps showing where these camps might of been located and mementos from her dad’s collection of native artifacts..The talk was very interesting and if you missed it you really missed out…
We all wish to congratulate Skylar Pankratz of Glidden for being the recipient of the Clam Lake Community Scholarship for 2018. She is the daughter of John and Dena Pankratz also of Glidden. Skylar plans on attending the University of Wisconsin Superior where her focus will be centered on Elementary Education.
Once again, I want to thank my Scholarship Committee whom have kept this wonderful program moving forward. We are now in our 17th year helping young people further their education. What a great accomplishment for our village. Lynne Rice
