Hello Clam Lake!
Spring is definitely in the air! Temps have stayed above freezing, during the day, all week with mainly sunny skies even though we did have a mild snow event mid week. Sunday saw us hitting the 50+ degree mark! Snow banks are going down at long last. Of course, this type of weather lends itself to slippery conditions on walkways and side roads. Take care when out walking about.
This weather also signals that the “party’s almost over” regarding the winter snowmobile season. Time to get out there and ride before it’s time to pack those sleds away for another year. It’s definitely been a successful snowmobile season for the village and let’s take time to thank our Ashland County trail groomers Randy (Gandhi) Sersch and Richard Reukema for helping make the season so wonderful! Thanks guys – you did a great job!!!
Another factor coming into play with the warmer weather are more deer venturing out onto the roadways. Sadly, I’ve seen a number of them that have been hit by vehicles. Time to take extra caution when out driving about. One wonders with our warmer weather moving in how long it will be before we are hearing reports of bear sightings. Can’t be far off. The forest is waking up!

CRITTER REPORT: On Friday, George the Goose of YouTube fame, made an unscheduled appearance at the Clam Lake Junction to mingle and do a bit of shopping.. After visiting with the customers George headed down the road to parts unknown. George’s purchase? Crackers. George also likes to shop at the Walmart in Hayward where he gets his favorite – mustard greens.
Until next week…..keep ‘er movin’…..
