Hello Clam Lake!
Well, Mother Nature decided to hammer us with another winter storm bringing with it an additional 8 to 10 inches of light fluffy snow complete with wind which caused some serious drifts. Of course, right on the heels of that we dipped down to minus 10 just to remind us that winter is still in it’s glory. Word on the street? – more is due this coming week. Good news for all those winter sports enthusiasts anyway.
REMINDER: You can make a donation to the Clam Lake Forest Riders at either the Clam Lake Junction or the Chippewa Outpost. When making a purchase in either place you may be asked if you would care to donate a dollar towards our hard working snowmobile club. If so, all the cashier has to do is hit the donation key and done! This provides and safe and efficient way to donate towards the club. The Forest Riders have been kept very busy this winter with maintaining the trails between both grooming and clearing. Their hard work pays off by providing a boost to our forest economy. This is a great way for you to say thank you!
SPEAKING OF – THIS IS THE ONE!: The Clam Lake Forest Riders will be hosting a meat raffle at Ransoms Place on Saturday March 4th running from 3:00 to 5:00 pm. This will also be the one in which they draw for their cash raffle that is held once a year. Tickets are still available for purchase at both Ransoms and the Clam Lake Junction. Good luck to everyone who participated!!! and thank you for supporting this hard working club. (Remember all meats come from Rondeaus in Cable.)
HISTORY MOMENT – CLAM LAKE DID IT FIRST?: Taken from the February 29th 1968 edition of the Glidden Enterprise: “ Clam Lake Bonfire and Weiner Roast – Clam Lake is planning a “Bonfire” and “Weiner Roast”. Bring your own food and drinks. Everyone welcome. Bring your flying saucers, sleds, snowmobiles, skates, etc. Get your voice in tune for a howling good time! Date – Sunday March 3rd. Time 5:00 pm (Weather permitting.)” Possibly a precursor to the Lakewoods Famous Weiner Toast? Maybe…..
