Community Club Meetings & Minutes

August 8th, 2019

The meeting was called to order by President Bud Rubeck with 26 people attending. The Pledge of Allegiance was said.

The Minutes from the July 11th meeting were read and accepted.

The Treasurer’s Report was read and accepted.

Old Business:

Outreach – Tom Dezotell reported that no cards had been sent.

Doc’s Musical Evening – 35 people attended this event with it being enjoyed by everyone. Beth Allison, on behalf of Doc and Nancy Chisholm, extended their thanks to the Club for letting them have their event there and to everyone that came. It was agreed to send a thank-you to Doc and Nancy for sponsoring this event. Tom will take care of that.

New Business:

Scholarship: Lynne reported that Mike and Jeri Dumholt have once again donated $1,000 to the Scholarship fund. A thank you and tax letter was sent to them. This is the fourth year out of the promised ten that they have contributed. This is done in the name of Mike’s parents. Jerry Justice handed in the bank statement to Treasuer Julie Rubeck so the increase to the account could be noted.

Backyard Tree Cutting: Boomtown Tree Service has come and done clearing in the backyard to make the view and access to the lake better. This is also to make a bigger area for firing and viewing of the 4th of July fireworks. Ace asked about having the stumps ground so as to turn the area into lawn. Bud will talk to Chip Forsberg, in Glidden, about this. Chip has a stump grinding business.

Tom Dezotell reported that he is having a Mass said at St. George’s for Andrea Krygoski. Thanks to Tom for doing that.

History:

Lynne gave a brief talk about the history of the piano in the building. It was recently tuned and it’s ivories replaced by Tom Denker of Port Wing – professional piano tuner. This was paid for by Doc Chisholm in preparation for his Musical Evening. The piano is the Club’s third piano. It was made in 1908, making it 111 years old as of this writing. It was probably purchased (used) by the Club around 1962,

The winner of the door prize was Dennis Booth and the winner of the fill your card Bingo was Tom/Diz. Congrats to them!

Meeting adjourned.
