Community Club Meetings & Minutes

May 9th, 2019

The meeting was called to order by President Bud Rubeck with 17 people attending. The Pledge of Allegiance was said.

The Minutes from the February 14th meeting were read and accepted.

The Treasurer’s Report was read and accepted.

Both the March and April meetings had been cancelled due to inclement weather.

No Old Business

New Business:

It was decided that the Club would purchase a plaque for Andrea Krygoski for the Memorial Board in the Park in remembrance of her service to the community over the years.

Outreach: Tom Dezotell offered to take over the Outreach program of sending sympathy and get well cards to the people in the Clam Lake area and members of the Community Club.

Defibrillator Training: It was decided to ask Rob from the Great Divide ambulance service to come out and demonstrate the use of the defibrillator that is housed in the Post Office at the next Community Club meeting – June 13th.

Midwestern Strange – Lynne gave an update on the book that will be coming out in the Fall featuring a chapter on Clam Lake and Project ELF. Release date: September 2019 – cost $19.95. Available for pre-order on Amazon.com.

Clam Lake News: Lynne has taken this job over for the Glidden paper and website.

Clam Lake Community Scholarship: We have one applicant this year.

Cemetery Crosses: Ace has put up the last of the cemetery crosses that were made by Jim and Andrea Krygoski to replace the ones that were disintegrating. Thanks to Ace for completing this project.

St. George’s : Our Clam Lake Chapel will be open for the summer season once again. The first Mass will be held on May 25th at 4:00 pm. It was also agreed that the Church could use the Club to hold a Pot Luck for Father Papi following a Mass. Any donations towards the running of St. George’s would be greatly appreciated.

History: Lynne showed an old Camp Fire Island postcard that had been sent August 1st, 1929 – almost exactly 90 years ago. Annemarie Stuebe helped with the translation of the Germanic script that the postcard was written in.
