Hello Clam Lake!
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas as Mother Nature sends us cold temps, followed by snow and more snow. Thankfully, she also deemed it in her heart to bring us some above freezing temps! And so it begins…..With the snowmobile trails opening on the 15th it’s almost time to say, “Snowmobilers – start your engines!”
UGLY SWEATER CONTEST RECAP: From all reports, the Ugly Sweater Contest held at Ransoms on Saturday was a resounding success. Pam Hudson reported that there were several contestants and that everyone had a great time. Of course, as with any contest, there are winners. This year’s prize winners were Skipper taking third place, Kim Filter snagging second with Dawn Derks proclaimed number one with her rendition of a Christmas tree! Santa also was on hand to visit with the local kids bringing smiles sll round. Is nice to know, that however small the community, Santa still takes time to visit children far and wide during his busiest of seasons. Thank you to all that helped orgainze and attend this great get together!
ELK ON THE SHELF: The Clam Lake Junction is once again featuring their “Elk on the Shelf” contest during the month of December. Everyday, a small holiday themed elk is hidden in the public spaces of the Clam Lake Junction. If you are lucky enough to find it, your name will be entered into a drawing for a $200 gift certificate. And….for some added fun, if you find him you can be the one to hide the elk for the next person. Talk about hide and seek! Happy elk hunting everyone and good luck!!
HOLIDAY FIELD TRIP – CHEQUAMEGON TEACHERS DAY OFF: Deciding to heed the call of “Shop Small” a group of 12 teachers from the Chequamegon School District, led by Head Shopper Michelle Byholm, headed down the road Saturday to hit the local shops. After a stop in Butternut to nab a school bus, courtesy of Becky Bablick, they were off! Dashing through the snow in their big yellow sleigh, their first stop was Deb Thimm’s in Glidden, then out to Clam Lake to the Northern Post where I caught up with them. As this cheerful holiday crew were busily shopping they told me they would be heading onward to Cable and then into Hayward to load that bus up with goodies. Thanks go out to them for supporting our local businesses! Happy Holidays!
COMMUNITY CLUB CHRISTMAS PARTY: On Thursday, December 15th, the Clam Lake Community Club will be hosting their annual Christmas party beginning around 5:00 pm. A ham will be provided with people being asked to bring sides and deserts to go with the ham. A $15 gift exchange will also be held (if you wish to participate). Gifts should be labeled Man or Woman accordingly. Of course, following the meal there will be some Christmas Bingo led by Master Bingo Caller Ace Griffaw. Hope to see you there!
