Clam Lake News & Events

Hello Clam Lake!

Happy New Year!! From our “neck of the woods” to yours we wish you a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year!

Will we have snow for the beginning of the New Year? That’s a big maybe right now. After all, we did have almost 50 degrees and rain on Christmas Eve. Considering what we went through last year with our historic snow falls I haven’t heard anyone complaining (so far!) – least of all the animals that we share our forest world with.

SPEAKING OF ALL THINGS SNOW RELATED –

CONGRATS – We wish to congratulate Richard Reukema on his recent appointment as Secretary of the Ashland County Snowmobile Alliance. As many of us know, Richard is a very avid snowmobile enthusiast and has been a very active member of the Clam Lake Forest Riders snowmobile club. Richard has also been on the board of the Alliance for 5 years serving as a delegate for the Forest Riders and has attended every meeting of that organization during that time. “The Alliance is comprised of delegates elected by members of the five snowmobile clubs in Ashland County. The delegates are active members of their home clubs and are snowmobile enthusiasts. These clubs act as a a collaborative group within the Alliance and work with the Ashland County Forestry, Chequamegon Nicolet Nations Forest, and the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) to maintain the county’s trail system. The Delegates do not receive compensation, instead are volunteers working for the betterment of the club and county because of the passion they have for snowmobile recreation.” Congrats and good job!

MORE SNOW NEWS – On Saturday, January 13th the Clam Lake Forest Riders will be resuming their popular meat raffles at Ransoms Place. The raffle will run from 3:00 to 5:00 pm. Once again, our Clam Lake elk have been visiting homes to herald in the holiday season. They have agreed to let me use a photo taken of them by Tom Dezotell a few years ago as they went around bringing joy to the village. We wish them and all the creatures we share our forest world with a very Happy Holiday season as well!

Until next week….
