Clam Lake News & Events

Hello Clam Lake!

With the advent of Memorial Day the summer season has officially begun. All the local establishments and vacation rental businesses seem more than ready for the reappearance of the summer tourist trade and the return of the summer people. Welcome back everyone! We’ve missed you!

SPEAKING OF: The weather couldn’t have been more perfect for the start of the summer season! Memorial Day, which often is cold and wet was a gorgeous day. We wish to thank the Glidden VFW for coming out to honor those that have served. Thank you!

CONGRATULATIONS: We wish to congratulate Kelly Dunlavy and Malia Forsberg for being the 2023 recipients of the Clam Lake Community Scholarship. Kelly is the daughter of Mike and Krystel Dunlavy with Malia being the daughter of Chip and Karen Forsberg – all of Glidden. We wish them both success in their future endeavors. The Clam Lake Community Scholarship began in 2001 and has had the pleasure of helping students for the past 22 years. As Scholarship Chairperson, I wish to thank my committee members for their service. They are: Jerry Justice, Georgianna Fanella, Jan Sharp and Beth Allison and to all those that have donated towards our scholarhsip over the years. Thank you!

ST. GEORGE: Once again, our “Little Chapel in the Pines” has opened its doors for the summer season. Mass is said every Saturday at 6:00 pm. Time to take a step back in time and come worship in the simple peace of our historic log cabin chapel built in 1948. Come pray with us!

BEARS – HERE, THERE AND EVERYWHERE: As earlier reported, bears continue to be a nuisance in the community as they appear in yards, driveways and wherever. Many are appearing in broad daylight as their curiosity and hunger gets the best of them. Time to take extra care with bird feeders and trash. Am sure we will be seeing the bear traps out and about soon as bears begin their yearly forced migration from place to place.
