Incorporated in 1937 – 2019 Annual Letter
Dear Members:
Happy New Year and welcome to the 20’s! As we start on this new decade of the 21st century it’s time to reflect on the accomplishments of 2019. Once again, the Community Club had a busy and productive year in it’s 82nd year of operation. How time flies!
2019 saw us with 121 paid memberships. The cost of membership remains at $10 per person or $25 for a family membership. We wish to thank all that continue to support Clam Lake’s only civic organization.
The Clam Lake Cemetery has a new look with the old sign being moved to the side of the entrance so it can be seen from the road. A new sign is in the process of being made and will be put up in the spring. Once again, wreaths were made and placed on the graves of our Clam Lake veterans in the style of Wreaths Across America. This was a project spearheaded by Dan Allen and Kathie Erickson. We wish to thank them for organizing this tribute to those that served.
A new defibrillator was purchased and put in the Clam Lake Post Office’s 24 hour entryway for easy access in case of emergency. A much needed device in a remote area such as ours.
Due to popular demand, St. George’s Chapel was re-opened for the 2019 summer season. Both attendance and participation were above expectation for our Chapel’s mission season. We wish to thank all that participated to make this a reality for our village. Once again, in May of 2020, St. George’s Chapel will open it’s doors to serve the spiritual needs of locals and tourists.
Brooklyn Hanson, of Glidden, was the 2019 recipient of the Clam Lake Community Scholarship. She is the daughter of Terry and Michele Hanson of Glidden. She will be pursuing a career in medicine.Congrats to her!
Once again, the 4th of July display did not disappoint thanks to Bud Rubeck, Tom Biasi and Derek Bay whom put together a truly wonderful show for everyone to enjoy. Thanks to them and all the behind the scenes people that made this a great evening.
The lakeside of the Community Club lot had an update with tree removal and landscaping. This new work has made the lake much more visible with easy access to the shore. What a great view!
A fireproof safe was purchased to hold the old Community Club records and other important documents and photos that tell the story of Clam Lake from 1931 onwards. Our past is now protected.
And last, but definitely not least, a Helipad is in the works in the Town of Gordon recycling area. This will provide emergency medical transport in case the need should arise.
